Responsibilities

Assists Planning, Design, Facilities and Construction teams in daily management of multiple planning projects associated with the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks (CZFP).

 

Project Execution & Oversight

  • Responsible for the execution of assigned projects from concept through project closeout. Maintaining project schedule, budget and labor resources and reporting regularly on project status for the leadership team.
  • Develop scope, budget, and schedule information for leadership approval.
  • Manage scope expectations, project costs, and schedules to deliver projects, on time and within budget.
  • Build and manage project teams and acquire resources for project delivery through competitive and/or negotiated procurement processes. Oversee activities of project team members including internal resources as well as external vendors, contractors, and design professionals.
  • Issue and evaluate vendor, contractor, and supplier Request for Proposals (RFPs), including but not limited to design professionals, general contractors, trade-specific contractors, etc.
  • Prepare/update and review project status reports, purchase orders, and invoices, update tracking reports, and maintain complete and accurate project data.
  • Escalate and manage risks impacting budget, schedule, or client business impact both internally and to the client.

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration

  • Keeps internal and external stakeholders aligned through clear, timely communication; builds strong working relationships by reading the room, adapting to different personalities, and fostering trust across teams.
  • Acts on behalf of CZFP as liaison between consultants and CZFP personnel.

Organizational Mission & Sustainability

  • Constantly strives to further the mission of the organization and avidly supports CZFP.
  • Implements sustainable practices in daily tasks whenever possible.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Degree from an accredited institution with a preference in Construction Management, Design, Engineering or Real Estate required (related experience may be substituted for degree).
  • The ideal candidate will have 5 years of demonstrated experience in delivering projects for commercial, real estate, or capital applications.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE) or other professional designation preferred.

Project Management & Technical Skills

  • Familiarity and ability in reading site, architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong ability to develop RFP documents, managing Request for Proposal (RFP) processes, project planning, schedule development and management, budget development and management and project tracking and reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Project, Monday.com reporting and scheduling ability, ProCore, AutoDesk and other project management specific programs, and PDF editing software (Bluebeam, Acrobat, etc.)

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong written communication skills and experience documenting and distributing meeting minutes to stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all CZFP team members and contacts regarding company business required.
  • Ability to provide excellent guest service by interacting with guests positively and upholding Guest Service Standards required.

Logistics & Compliance

  • Ability to plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner without direct supervision is required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Possession of a valid state issued motor vehicle operator’s license, and a good driving record required.
  • Proof of negative TB screening prior to placement and annually thereafter required.
  • Ability to adhere to the CZFP’s drug-free workplace policy including but not limited to, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and follow-up treatment required.
  • Ability to successfully complete a criminal history background check annually required.
