At the Columbus Center for Wildlife Conservation, part of the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks, we believe in the power of people to protect wildlife. We're looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Conservation Coordinator to support our mission through exceptional administrative and organizational skills. Responsibilities

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Provide direct administrative assistance to conservation staff, including senior personnel, biologists along with other critical team members.
  • Perform general office duties: answering phones, managing correspondence, organizing meetings, filing, and ordering supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all communications.

Data & Records Management

  • Organize and input data for conservation departments.
  • File and maintain accurate records, including accreditation documentation and departmental files.
  • Track and report on conservation budgets, including purchase orders and reconciliations.

Program & Proposal Coordination

  • Coordinate research proposal submissions and approvals.
  • Support grant-related activities: distribute materials, track budgets, and compile weekly reports.
  • Assist with logistics for conservation speakers and events, both virtual and in-person.

Mission-Driven Engagement

  • Respond to public inquiries via phone, email, and mail.
  • Promote and embody the mission: Empowering People. Saving Wildlife.
  • Integrate sustainable practices into daily tasks.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative support experience, including senior-level support.

Technical Proficiency

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage data, budgets, and digital records efficiently.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience guiding interns or seasonal staff is a plus.

Professional Standards & Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Annual negative TB screening required.
  • Commitment to guest service and safety protocols.
